On December 15, 2022, the Colorado State Land Board awarded Lessee of the Year to Ben Guillon for developing the Table Top Conservation Bank. This landmark project is both Colorado’s first private conservation bank and the nation’s first conservation bank established on state land. Through an innovative public-private partnership, more than 200 acres of critical habitat for the Preble’s meadow jumping mouse will be permanently protected and restored. The conservation credits generated will primarily support critical water infrastructure projects, with a portion of sales returning to the State Land Board to advance its mission of funding public education in Colorado.
